Major John Sarnecky

Major John Sarnecky is retired from the United States Army and has been the founding Senior Army Instructor (SAI) at Palmetto Ridge High School since the summer of 2004. Prior to becoming Palmetto Ridge's SAI, he started two new Army JROTC Programs in Southern California.

Major Sarnecky is an Infantry Officer, and his active duty military career included duty assignments such as: platoon leader, executive officer, and assistant G3 plans and operations officer in the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He served as the Regimental Adjutant and Company Commander 3rd United States Infantry (The Old Guard), the Army's Ceremonial Unit and Escort to the President. Major Sarnecky served on the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) as the Presidential Escort Officer for President George H.W. Bush during his Inauguration. Major Sarnecky was selected and served on General Colin Powel's Joint Staff, J1, Manpower Management, and in the Pentagon. He also served as a Professor of Military Science at California State University in Fullerton.

His awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Medal, Unit Citation for the Interment of the Vietnam Unknown, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Senior Parachutist Wings, Jumpmaster, Air Assault Badge, and the Joint Service Badge. 

Early Career and College:

Major Sarnecky has a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Masters of Science in Administration, and a doctoral level Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S) in Educational Leadership.
